I hope it is the fuel pump and not the dreaded Nikasil issues?

Our weather sucks here cold, misty rainy and that is after Dec-Jan 20" of snow and a low of -13.

Will update

Thanks everyone
Based on the fact that it fired with the starter fluid I would bet it the fuel pump. The fuel filter helps deliver clean fuel to the injector but they rarely clog up completely. If it hasn't been changed in the last 20-30k miles it would be good maintenence to put a new one in.

Good Luck

Step 1 – Check for OBD codes

Step 2 – Check for fuel and spark

Step 3 - Never assume

Default xk8 wont start

The end result was a new fuel pump. AAutowarranty company paid for it with a $100 deductible and reimbursed for the tow. I am not a shill but they did step up and my Service Manager said it was done professionally.

I am trading the car for a 2003 BMW 330Ci convertible.

Meanwhile my wife, on a dark and really foggy nite made a left turn and got the left side of the car up on a median strip. She guessed maybe 10-15mph turn. Said it made a lot of noise.
Based on the ocean of oil on the garage floor the next morning she at least did not lose all of the oil from the hole in the pan of the Crossfire. Same tow company took it to the bodyshop. In the meantime she wants the BMW.

So maybe I will buy the Jag back when it settles down.

Thanks for all the help from this board.
