Default ABS Light

My ABS light stays on all the time in my 1997 XK8. Every so often the car won't start and the Shifter won't shift out of park. I've noticed that the cruse control light on the center console won't light up. After a while, everything works as normal and the car runs great. Even the Cruise Control light lights up. Does the ABS have a computer that isn't communicating with the other computers or do I have some other problem?

Well over 90 views and no feedback? So it looks you have 3 faults....
1. ABS LAMP illuminated.
2. Bad start from cold (I guess).
3. Shifter stuck in park.

Have a look around the forum and you will find much discussion & recent feeds on ABS problems.
Similar with poor starting, again much info for checking fuel pressure amongst other common causes.
Shifter stuck in park.....do you hear the "click" when depressing the brake pedal? I have read a thread on here where an owner had an exact same issue.
If after reading & trying out all the suggestions on here and still no fix, then come back here and we will help you through each issue 1 by 1.

Reverend Sam has made a youtube video of cleaning the wheel sensors.
Might just do the trick for the ABS light.

Do try the other recommendations first, but some of the symptoms also point to the brake switch going bad. (I know it sounds unrelated, but it is Jaguar after all.)

Not expensive to replace and certainly a DIY, but it can be a PIA to change. Search the threads. Plenty of stories and how-to's on the brake switch problem.

Thank you so much for the response. I will try them all and see what happens.
