Cool ABS module from 97 xk8

Hello to everyone! I pulled my abs control mod out of my 1997 xk8 to see if the solder had broke. I did this after many dash board messages and the final- engine won't start. I have been through the forum and cleaned the sensors. The unit looked intact. It has a clear plastic coat over the entire board. Is there anything else to ck or should I send it off to be rebuilt? I sure appreciate all your input. Thanks Dan

Remove the coating at the connector to the motor and carefully resolder the two pins. The solder may have hairline cracks that are hard to see by inspection.

Thanks I will give it a try. Does the coating just peel off?

Yes, just peel it off in that area, and clean it with a bit of alcohol before soldering for the best results. Use an electronics grade solder.

Hello jon89, well if we keep the top up, which I would rather not, we can run pretty much year round. But I run usually April to about September. Often during these times, if my heater is working well, I can sometimes drop the top. Thanks for asking. Dan
