Default ABS module removal

2001 XK8
I'm getting the lights for abs and trac intemittently, seems to be after its warmed up. I have cleaned all the sensors. My question is can the car be driven with the ABS module removed. I'd like to take it off and check for the bad solder joints. However I don't like to be rushed and the car is a daily driver

I did not try that, but a couple of members have done so.

I used the DIY method to solder the pins on my ABS. Total time to fix and replace was less than 2 hours and I really took my time as I was nervous about the results. This time does not include dry time for the adhesive to put the case back together. I let this sit overnight in clamps.

Mine is also my daily driver and I had the same concerns as you. It's quicker than you think and easily can be done without a serious disruption of your schedule.

As to driving without the module, when you get the ABS/Trac light, you are driving without the module. It is disabled. I did not try it without the module installed, but several folks here have stated you can. Just no ABS function. Make sure you reconnect the brake lines first.
