ABS pump motor testing

ABS pump motor testing
Mostly just a point of curiosity, but does anyone see any problem with testing the ABS pump motor by unplugging the lead and briefly jumping 12V to it, to make sure it spins?
Also. isn't there a relay somewhere to power this motor? I can't imagine it being powered directly off the circuit board.
Thanks,
Russ

As you may have seen, the most common problem with the unit is broken solder joints on the motor connector to the circuit board.

THAT is EXACTLY how I test the pump when I get the C1095 DTC in a car I am diagnosing.
I have never seen a pump fail BUT.............. I always test the pump anyway.
It is a DC motor so a brief 12V burst will verify the pump operation.
It does not matter which lead is POS or NEG. You are not testing the pumping operation, pressure or flow, just the motor running.
