ABS/Trac Control Module
I volunteered or was volunteered to work on a friend's 1999 convertable Xk8. He bought it from a girl who fell out of love with it because warning lights would come on and the car would go into limp home mode intermittently. The car appears to be in OK shape. But I did notice that the battery doesn't seem to be the correct size and there is a moldy, damp smell in the trunk and in the interior of the car with the door panels full of water!
So he has lots of other vehicles to drive so it sits most of the time. Seemed to start right up easily and idles very smoothly. Didn't have meter with me the one time I worked on the car.
I checked fuses, but didn't know about the fuse box in the passenger side kick panel. I have the ABS Control Module out and apart. I resoldered the two power out to the motor pins. But upon reassembly the warning lights came on instantly upon start up. And maybe there was another one added...a solid red rectangle near the solid yellow rectangle!
So I need help to say the least. Are there other known problems with the moduales besides the two power pins? Is there anyplace that will accept the box for repair even though I've been into already?
I've read about lower cranking amp batteries being a possible problem? How about abs pump motor problems? The two wire "harness" from the motor to the moduale looks like it got hot near where it goes into the moduale. But it doesn't seem to unplug from the motor side I didn't really want to poke a hole in it to check continuity. I was thinking of just putting b+ and b- to it, both wires are black so who can tell me which one is which?

Abs: disconnect the abs and it will always light up until you drive forward 50 yards or something. Have you had the chance to drive it around the block? Try it.
You kind of need to say what lights come on when. Could easily be a disconnect vacuum line that drives cc acceleration. All good cc turns on, then you come to a hill, vacuum tries to increase throttle can't cause its disconnected = restricted performance & cc shuts down (red light and all).
