Dear forum, Looking for some advice here. Today I installed the A2D-JAG98 bluetooth receiver. Just need to give it some power with an “add a fuse” or fuse by-pass. Looking for a suitable 10 amp fuse in the boot fuse box I struggle to make a decision.
Fuse 9 is the antenna. This is a “permanent in” so powered constantly regardless of the ignition key position. Can anyone tell me why that is necessary for the antenna? Fuse 10 is the for the central locking so also a “permanent in” Fuse 11 is an accessory socket fuse. But measuring this there is no power to it whatever the ignition key position is in. Fuse 15 is the fog lights. So only power when fog lights are on.
To me fuse 10 and 15 are a no go.
Leaves me with 11 and 9. But I doubt about 9 as it is “permanent in”.
Leaves me with the accessory fuse but it seems no power goes to that one (all fuses are good!).
Really looking for some advice here. Is my conclusion wrong? Do I miss something important or obvious? Pls enlighten me.
Notice that in your 1st pic that there is an empty relay socket. This is quite normal. By installing an additional OEM relay in this location will provide a "switched "circuit for the #11 fuse. The power connector for this circuit is in the area just right of the battery. It is imperative to use an OEM or transient protected relay in order to protect the delicate electronics.
Had fuse #9 been on an "ignition switched" relay circuit, it would interfere with the switching logic that allows the antenna to retract fully after the car is turned off.

Dr. D, thanks for this, this is quite helpful. That indeed sound logical for the fuse #9!
For fuse #11, ok the first part is understood, but I struggle a bit with the part "The power connector for this circuit is in the area just right of the battery."
Can you pls elaborate a bit further? What needs to be done to make this work? Just checked and did see two unused/detached connectors (see pics).
The 3 conductor connector (black: brown-green: and red-white) is taped to your wiring harness. The red-white conductor will provide your switched +12v once the additional relay is plugged in.
FWIW, my Sirius unit uses this circuit.
Good luck on your install.

Dear Dr. D, just ordered an OEM LJA6703AA relay from the dealer (believe she said it was under 10 euros) so that will be in at the end of this week I hope. Now I still struggle a bit actually ……. The A2DJAG98 bluetooth module will be connected to fuse #11 via a “add a fuse” or fuse bypass (red cable in picture 1).
Will that work after I install the new relay or do I still need to work something out with the red/white conductor? Follow up question, the 3 conductor connector (black: brown-green: and red-white), what is that one for?
Already a big thanks for your help so far! Brgds, Hans

Here is the schematic from from page 129 of the (2001 RANGE) electrical handbook. You are at liberty to tap the circuit at either the fuse or the connector.(or anywhere within the orange oval for the Red-White conductor and it should work.)
I do not know what was in mind for these connectors originally, but my best guess would be for a mobile phone.
(Note: NG is their code for Brown-Green)

Dr. D, As promised a quick update. Ordered a relay from Jaguar dealer T4N15704 (€13/$15, superseeds part LJA6703AA). Installed it, installed a fuse, contact on and yes, we have power!
So installed a “add a fuse” (had to trim a little bit of plastic away from the fuse housing, no big deal) put everything back, connect to bluetooth and now I can listen to spotify in my beautiful XKR!
Only thing I now have to do is add a switch for the antenna so I can keep it down when listening to bluetooth and search for a non navi side trim so I don’t have that hole where the DVD used to be. Added some pictures of the end result.
ThnxDr. D for the advice!
