Default Advice sought after 1 month of ownership

I've identified the following issues in the past month.

1. AC-The AC was't working but followed advise from GGG and exercised it for a few days and now works fine. Have noticed fan noise with AC working. Is this normal?

2. ABS/TC warning lights-Came on second day, after having AC charged, nothing since. Will probably need rebuilt control module but will wait and see. Also need to clean sensors.

3. Cold transmission lurch into reverse-No problem waiting 2 minutes for warm up. Should I get new trans. control module or can this wait?

4. Steering wheel shake on even small bumps. Replaced upper strut mount but no change (Bushing falling apart anyway). Going to get road force wheel balance. Any other suggestions? The lower bushings seemed soft. Not sure if normal.

5. Passenger headrest stuck in high position-My wife is short and would be happy if I could just lower it. Is there a way to do this that is easier then repairing it?

For 4 I would check the upper and lower control arm bushes and ball joints.

For #5, the steps to get it in the down position are about 90% of what it takes to repair it. Why not just fix it while you're in there?

Lots of threads on how to do this on the forum. And of course there is the right Reverend Sam showing us how it is done:

Another bit of advice. I know Rev Sam did his in the car my advise is take it out of the car to do it. I tried all sorts to do mine in place and got into positions the Karma Sutra would be proud of. Ever got leg cramps in the rear of a XKR/8, you dont want to. Once I had the seat out I did it in mins. MUCH easier.

^^ Agreed. Well worth taking the seat out of the vehicle in order to complete this repair much faster and easier....

Just wondering was this car sitting for awhile before you bought it? The reason I ask is the AC not working then it worked itself out. I figure with some use the fan noise should also get better by using it. Worth a try.

ABS/TC light. Awhile ago when I first got my 03 xk8 I had to move my car out of the garage into the driveway. When I went for a restart I had the same light. Hooked up my scanner and cleared the code and have never seen it again. So I guess your experience isn't much different.

Good luck

I did the repair a few times on the drivers seat and didn't bother taking the seat out. It was no big deal but probably helped that I have a convertible and lowered the top.
