Default Aftermarket ignition coils from eBay

On my 1999 XK8 I am getting P0356/7 OBD II codes, which indicate ignition coils may be defective.

Looking for replacement parts I found a number of low cost offers on eBay, for example this one:
Ignition Coil Kit Set of 8 for Jaguar XJ8 XJR Vanden Plas XK8 XKR NEW | eBay

Aftermarket ignition coils from eBay-ignition-coil.jpg

The price is $120 for a set of 8, which is much better than anything available from a dealer or a parts store.

I wonder if anyone had experience with such products and can share it with the rest of us.

Thank you in advance

Yo, just go OEM, you gotta Jag, treat it like one It's well worth it. Leave the aftermarket stuff to a Honda. Cheap coils burn out too quick

I had to replace a coil on my #5 cylinder, and decided to replace all of them (since the e-bay price was so good)
The engine ran worse than when it was missing. Sent all the e-bay coils back and put the old ones back on, and purchased just 1 better quality coil pack for #5 from Autozone.
All is well!

Welcome to the forum sukalsl,

I've edited your post to make the link work and added a screenshot because the original ebay listing will soon disappear.

This question comes up from time to time and the usual advice is to go with OE.

You can get these nameless coil packs for just a couple of dollars per piece in china, so the seller on ebay has a very good margin here, and of course it wouldn't be an issue for him to provide 10 years of warranty.

I would stay away from these or any other nameless stuff.

Beck/Arnley seems to make a very good replacement when OEM branded parts are not available or cost prohibitive. Avoid at all costs the Standard brand. It was once a good supplier, but is now a low-end Chinese product boxed in the Standard box.
