Default Aftermarket stereo head unit options for XK8?

Ok, love my XK8, and I like the steering wheel controls, but sorry, this head unit has got to go. Since Jag did not use a double-DIN unit, that narrows the choices down to something that will fit into the standard DIN bay.

Anybody have any suggestions for a bumpin system?

Default nice

I don't think I'm going to go quite as far as you did, but I will look at that deck you put in. How about the steering wheel volume controls? Were they able to preserve those? And did you keep the stock antenna?

Thanks

Default climate control connected to the radio?

I found a picture of the front and back of a stock XK8 radio. The back shows wiring running from the climate control unit above to the radio below:

Though part of this might be for illumination power, why else would there be so many wires? Are there things that need to be considered when installing an aftermarket deck?

Also do you know which connection in the picture is the one for the steering wheel controls? Thanks.

There's about a dozen wires that apply to the Navigation Unit, and if ANY of them are disconnected, I can't access the menu screen for the nav. Otherwise, I don't think anything else is affected, climate especially. I did have a shop do the install however, but they never said anything about rigging the old wiring.

The PAC steering wheel controls unit works like a champ. Programmable for whatever you want the buttons to do, though we only get a volume up/down, and two other selections - I chose Next track and Source for mine. Sorry, don't know which wires are for the steering wheel controls, but i've got wiring diagrams if that helps when you want to do yours.

Yes, that would be helpful. Can you post a link?

what year Burg?

Here is a link to my 2003, wiring colors may be different, that's why I asked. I'll have to reference my JTIS for another year.

Its a 1997, which I know had a different stock stereo system. Steering control plug should be similar though (I hope).

I'll check with JTIS, and see if its considerably different. Remind me if I don't post up again in a couple days.
