Aftermarket stereo install help....
I have a 2006 XK8 with factory radio and Navigation. I need to replace it with an aftermarket Alpine Stereo and am wondering if anyone knows the correct Aftermarket ISO Radio Harness to use for both the new stereo as well as steering wheel controls.
I did an install on an 2001 XK8 a few years ago, and used a harness from Nexxia..(ordered it online from the UK)., but they don't list anything for a 2006 XK8. Does anyone know if the same harness will work on a 2006 XK8 as well? If not , does anyone know of an aftermarket radio harness that will allow me to install an aftermarket Alpine stereo in a 2006 model XK8. My feeling is that the harness for a 2001 and 2006 should be the same, but if anyone knows for sure please let me know, or which harness I should use...Thanks for anyone's help

I'm looking for an aftermarket radio for my 2000 XKR and I was wondering what radio you chose to use for either of the installs you have or are doing..?
Thanks

The Alpine stereo has a special optical link to the amp. I'm not aware of an after market replacement for it. I had to replace the amp and now run twin amps. Made a big difference in the sound (granted I also replaced all of the speaker and ran dedicated subs).
My question was which HEAD UNIT is a good option..?? I prefer the replace with an Alpine.
Model numbers, and/or Links would be helpful...
Thanks..!!
There is an optical link from the head unit to the amps that is unique to Jaguar with the Alpine stereo (the HK doesn't have it). This means you can't replace the head unit with any aftermarket unit without replacing the amps. It was an easy swap with my XK8 with the HK, far harder with the XKR and Alpine. Currently I have the top of line Kenwood but was using a top of line Alpine previously (I change my head unit annually to keep things up to date). There are a number of threads on this if you look. I went double DIN and moved the lower switch unit to create room. Others have gone single DIN and either run down a cover plate, fabricated one, or just went without. You can have a motorized screen or put in a navigation unit in the upper dash. I put the switches first in the glove box then in the center console, others have relocated them in the upper dash where the gauges or nav is now. Be aware if you go with the motorized screen it will interfere with the gear shift lever when it is in park. An option to avoid this is to relocate the switches below the unit moving it up so the screen doesn't contact the gear shift lever.
