Is the airbag light flashing before it turns to solid? If so, it is giving you a two digit code that will tell us the problem area.

Just a quick thought, have you done any work on it recently that involved disconnecting wiring connections? I had a similar thing happen after I had removed the dome light panel. Air bag light came on after flashing several times. I double checked my work and realized that one of the connectors was not fully engaged.

Welcome to the forum cym,

That's a VERY broad question and speculating on the possible causes is not the best way to troubleshoot the issue. You need to add as much further detail as you can to help target relevant options.

As JagV8 suggests - have the codes read. Always the place to start when either the MIL or Airbag lights display. woox4 questioned whether the light is solid or flashes first before staying on and dcarlo asked about recent work on the vehicle. All of this helps to narrow down the possible causes.

in many but not all cases for this particular year-range (up to 2002) the sonar occupant sensor has failed. usually the one on the passenger A-pillar. check the codes before you troubleshoot further.

It's easier said than done to get the codes read in some areas Local jag dealer did not even exist in 2004 and KNOWS NOTHING about my XK8 or any Jag before 2010-2012 My cheap little code reader only reads engine codes

I occasionally order a small part from them and I literally have to give them the part number I want

Hi Every one. Well I am the proud owner of my first Jaguar. I bought a 2004 silver XJ8 Vanden Plas. Just turned 60,000 miles. Such a nice car. I had an airbag fault which I have had done to day. A clock spring they said, anyway lights are off now. But on the window wheer the vin number is. There is a warning there looks like a symbol of a bag and a little man. Is that a permanent thing, or should that be made to go away now?

If there is a thread on this I apologize, Not found it yet.
Thank you all.

Barry

Welcome to the forum Barry,

Not entirely relevant to this thread as your 2004 has a more advanced SRS (Supplementary Restraint System than the OP's 2002 model. The VIN appears in three locations, none of which have warning symbols next to them ........?
