Default Airbag tester for Jaguar XK8 1997

I have bought the wrong one a few times, so now I would like to ask if there is anyone who can recommend an OBD2 for my XK8 1997 (wine no. 017924) which, in addition to general OBD test can also test ABS and Airbag? In particular Airbag on the old car. The ones I have been able to find so far can only test airbags on cars after 2002. Thanks in advance!

have a look here:
I've had bad luck with one mongoose(clone) cable and SDD/IDS (Jaguars own software), cable didn't communicate to car, thought it did at one point...apparently there are "different" types of the mongoose, I got the different type..
in the youtube vid it seems that reader gets the ABS codes etc, if you try it/bye it, let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

It is my understanding that the SRS information is not available via the OBD but I hope I am wrong as my SRS light is turned off by a timer for the MOT test.
Mine is 97 too

On the early cars, the airbag module has a data line that goes directly to the Data Link Connector (pin 3 on the OBD connector). The later cars don't have this dedicated pin. I assume that the Jaguar WDS will work with either, but the kind of OBD reader that you can buy on ebay will only work with the later cars to read the airbag data. Either way if I had a 1997 car I would confirm with the vendor before purchasing that the reader does in fact use that pin 3 to talk to the airbag - their answer will be "I don't know".

You are right. I Did find an independent (inUK) who had WDS and could read it ...at a price.
