Talking Aloha - new to me 2003 XK8

Just pulled the trigger on a 2003 XK8 vert with 86K miles, very detailed service records from 15 K to current with all know MY issues sorted out and in great shape. Car is being shipped from CA to Maui and should arrive on 5-5-14. I had the car inspected and no issues to speak of. I'm sure after I get my hands on it I'll be needing a lot of advice and thanks in advance for everyones time and comments. As soon as it arrives I'll post up some photos but attached is one from the dealer web site.
I purchased and downloaded all current service manuals and electric schmatics from JagDocs last night.

There is one known issue with the drivers window. When the handle is pulled the window drops slightly as it should however as soon as the door opens the window goes back up instead of waiting for the door to close.

Any ideas on this issue and a possible resolution?

Congrats Jandreu. Love the color. I know once I made my decision the waiting was painful!

Congratulations on the new ride! Hope it makes the journey OK. (fun fact: it will have crossed both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans in its life by the time you get it.)

The window issue may be a simple matter of doing a window reset. You will find the procedure in the owner's manual you downloaded. Takes all of 2 minutes sitting in the driver's seat.

Make sure you have a good battery charge when you get it. It will have been sitting a lot by delivery and these cats hate low voltage. It causes lots of gremlins...like windows needing to be reset.

A simple reset of the windows should cure that problem. Take window down all the way and hold button until you hear a faint click. Take window all the way up until you hear the faint click. This should retrain your window.

This sounds like a stuck micro switch and can't be fixed with a reset. I know because my passenger side window does the same thing. A little lubrication might fix it. Check the forum for more info.

Congratulations on the XK8.

Shame you purchased the manuals and schematics. All are available for download from the forum free of charge.

Thanks all, I'll be chomping at the bit for the next week or so. The manuals from Jag docs were only $16 downloaded so probably the cheapest thing I'll spend on the car and I am already shopping, ordered a car cover from California Car Covers. Have always had covers for all my cars from them as I do not have a garage that the cars will fit in. Garage is for the motorcycle's and work bench.

I'll try the window reset but from what I've researched the micro switch seems like the likely issue.

Car has NAV which is useless for me, wish I could have found a non-nav car as I like the look of the gauges, maybe a future project to swap out. Anybody tried using the nav screen for a backup camera?

Go to The Jag Wrangler (TheJagWrangler - Home - About Us) for the 3 Gauge Mod. He is forum member WhiteXKR and a great guy. While there, also buy his RealGauge Mod, it's a must have too.

Great, tks for the reference to WhiteXKR, have read many of his posts. Been reading all the search threads on the window issue, seems fixable as I can turn a wrench as well as most shade tree mechanics as well as have a good electronics background.

Let the journey begin......
