Arrow Also Help Needed on CD Changer Info on 2001 XKR Conv

Hi,
My CD Changers life is coming to an end as it now skips all the time and I tried a head cleaner and still no go. Is it a generic changer or do I need a factory replacement? Are these even still available? I dont want to replace the stereo to aftermarket but may have to. Does anyone knoe a way to tie in an aux audio source to the factory setup? Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

Matt,

I've moved your question from the end of an old Intro thread to the XK8/XKR section. You'll get a quicker and better response here.

There are a number of used changers on ebay.

For aux input one of these between your navigation computer and the power amp in the trunk and it will override the radio automatically when you have a source playing into the RCA connectors. Amazon.com: PIE ALP/AI-AUX Audio Switcher/Aux Input for Alpine Ai-NET Radios: Car Electronics. Use it with a PAC LD-10 preamp for best performance of the auto-trigger.

Use this instead if you have an iPod/iPhone: iP-JAGCD iPod Adapter for Select Jaguar with CD Auto Changer :: iPod Adapters & Interfaces

There are also options for Bluetooth which give handsfree phone and wireless audio streaming posted in the modification sticky section of the forum.

Make sure you get the 'changer + amp' version since your car has the premium amp.

You will have a difficult time finding any CD changers nowadays other than used units. Unless you are dead set on having the factory radio, you might want to consider abandoning CDs altogether.

I swapped my factory radio out for an Alpine unit that doesn't even have a single CD player but is Pandora and satellite capable. That plus a bluetooth adapter lets me use Pandora (or Spotify, stored music files, etc.) from my android phone. The factory CD changer sits idly in its stock location, disconnected for good - or until I sell the car and somebody really wants the original system. On the plus side, the rack for the CD changer also makes a great place to stash an amplifier.

I was able to find an adapter to make the steering wheel controls functional with the aftermarket radio:
