Amber Engine Light P0174 Self-Clearing
I caused a 2001 XKR to throw a P1111 & P0174 (System Too Lean) code and the Amber Engine Light to go on, as I left an air gap through the valve cover that allowed air to escape into the crankcase recently. This caused the engine to not run well; after I corrected it, all is fine, so I know I no longer have a problem, but the Amber Engine Light is still on.
Knowing that each warning light clearing has its own logic, how long (or how many miles of driving) should I expect to do before a P0174-triggered Amber Engine Light clears itself if the problem has been resolved?

Paul,
Why not try the hard reset (remove negative battery cable and touch the positive, wait ten minutes). This reset all my error codes but there was a new one P1000, which came on, which basically says that the car's diagnostics needs you to drive the car a bit so it can test all systems.

Don't do a hard reset!
You do NOT want to cause P1000 as you MAY have great pain getting back to P1111 (see posts by those who've had the pain).
If fixed the MIL will go off after 3 or 4 warm ups. The code will stay harmlessly stored until eventually auto-deleted (40 or 80 warm ups).

Thank you for your reply. 40 to 80 warm-ups is encouraging and worth the wait as I rather see it go away naturally - based on past experiences when I was not patient and resorted to resetting things, causing loss of data, failing smog with "NO Data Available".
I will keep my fingers crossed and report back to this thread.
