A short time back my low coolant light would come on intermitantly. I'd get the message when I stopped or excelerated. Checked expansion tank and fluid was almost empty. Added a few ounces. Maybe too many because for a couple of trips I would smell antifreeze. Never saw a drip on garage floor. It had a little bit of a burnt smell. I'm thinking I over filled the tank and excess ran out a overflow hose which then dripped on an exhaust pipe. Am I right about the overflow and what level is normal in the tank? Oh, I had antifreeze and thermostat changed about 40K miles ago. Jack

 

My tank is almost full. You may have one of those stealth leaks that others have recently posted. Check out H2Oboy and his hose replacement thread. Should probably fill up the tank and check the level day to day and see what it's doing. Don't want to overheat these engines!
