Default Any advice on recovering my seats

My fronts seats in my XK8 have seen better days as their pretty worn. Local uphosterly shop wants $2400 to re-cover the seats. Co-worker suggested searching the net for replacements.

Has anyone bought new from the net? If so, any suggestions or things that are important to consider?

Thanks!

Check with Katzskin (I believe that's how you spell it) in California. They may sell a replacement kit that will work. I put their leather kit for my 1999 Dodge Ram pickup in my truck in January 2001, and the leather still looks and feels great. At that time the Ram kit sold for about $700, and it requires more leather than an XK8 would. No idea what the same Ram kit would sell for today....

Several people on the forum recommend Convertible Tops, Headliners, Convertible Top Parts, and OEM Seat Covers as a good choice. Search for this and you will find several threads. Full XK8 front package (with headrests) for both seats is $749. The patterns are year correct and color matched to Jag codes.

You'll need to have them installed, but even so it will be less than half of what the shop quoted you.

Thx for the link Jag#4. Those covers are as cheap as I've found and with others liking their work it gives me some reassurance.

Getting them installed and the cost associated will be the next question. All I have heard is how tough those seats are to work with....

Jon89 I checked your suggestion but they don't offer seat covers for Jaguar. I appreciate the reply!

Default Any Advice on Recovering my Seats

I recently re-covered my '01 XKR drivers side seat cover. I used GAHH Automotive, North Hollywood, CA to make the seat cover and ship to my installer. The cost was $572, plus $178 for the installation. The leather matches perfectly with the backrest that remains original. I have attached pictures of the seat cover installed and the seat cover removed. I am planning on selling the old seat cover, just has minor wrinkles in the leather, no discoloration or tears. Send me a PM if you are interested. I was very happy with the delivery and quality. I am going to use them for the fabric replacement on the A pillar too.
