Anybody Know what this was for ?
I found this dealer sticker on my right front shock tower. It is for some kind Jaguar authorized modification. It looks like it says b04 and has some initials and a date. Anybody know what it might be for ?
Could that be J004?
I found this:- something to do with OBD compliance (dated 2009)..

Scroll down a bit - unfortunately the description is truncated when you drill into the links

Thanks Michael. I think you're right about it being J004. I found some other references to it and they all seem to be truncated at the same place. Something about OBD compliance and monitoring and open loop. Oh well, I guess it was just a TSB that was addressed and not a performance mod. ;^)
When Jaguar issues a Service Action or Recall they send a stack of compliance stickers to affix to the vehicle in a certain location. This is just to let the owner (and subsequent owners) know that the action has been done.
The sticker has lines for a designation and then the repairing dealer is to fill in the info with the dealer code and date.
It could be for an incorrect warning label or reprogramming etc. (almost anything)

These Recall stickers are often mentioned but I've never seen one. They must be as rare as finding the plate on a cylinder block that has had the Nikasil repair.
Great to see what the sticker actually looks like.

Mine had the TB replaced under S514, and there's no accompanying sticker even though that was a pretty important fix.
Graham, you don't mean the green plate ona Jag. reman. engine do you?

YES - I do. I've seen a photo in Nigel Thorley's book but never found one on an early cylinder block.

I've got one !!!

Removed it and keep it with the documentation as the adhesive was pretty much gone and it was nearly falling off. Probably explains why there aren't many about !
Edit : Would have been better if new engine number had been stamped on tag. I can't read "new" number - too difficult unless thermostat tower is out of the way. So - at least for the present - the engine number on my registration documents is incorrect. No big deal but just seems a wasted opportunity at the time.
