Default Anyone know what this is?

Wife’s daily is 99 XK8 coupe and the trans died. I pulled it and am planning on doing seals while here. Looks like there is a bit of weeping on the plug in the picture. Is this a known fault. Does anyone have any info on this? Any help is really appreciated.

Plug is at the top of the crankshaft with the female Allen.

Looks like a galley of some kind?

Yes, oil gallery. A typical problem. Just use teflon tape or high temp RTV. Also replace the rear main seal, another common problem.

It is a common problem and is often found to be loose. Use threadlocker when tightening and torque to spec.
