Anyone modified their wipers to less obtrusive ones?

Not yet, but it is on my list.
I dislike intently, the way the passenger side was not designed to park the same way the driver's side does.
I had thought of perhaps heating the existing arm and bending slightly to get the right angle, obviously using an old one first.
Maybe look at other manufacturers to see what is available, as you say, it must be possible.

The thread link below is for aftermarket replacements, but addresses the same issue of getting a lower profile on the wipers.

1. he was in California
2. he hasn't been heard of for a while (since it last rained there... )
I can never see the reason not to design wipers to park out of sight below the bonnet line. So many instances of beautiful cars spoiled by wipers that look like an aftermarket bolt-on.

I took mine off and keep the drives side in the "boot" with Rain-X on the windshield. You might think about only running with the drives side, passengers don't need to see anyway. Get it looking the best you can and try to forget about it, or do what I did, I don't thick of it at all until I go to drive out of the car wash. It's a little dicey until I get up to speed.

If any UK members are considering driving around without windscreen wipers fitted, be aware it contravenes Construction & Use Regulations 1986 and the Road Traffic Act 1988:
The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986
Every vehicle fitted with a windscreen must have one or more efficient
automatic windscreen wipers, unless the driver can obtain an adequate view of the road to the front without looking through the windscreen.
Every vehicle required to have a windscreen wiper must also have a windscreen washer, unless it is:
1. an agricultural vehicle first used before 1 June 1986;
2. a tracked vehicle;
3. a vehicle which cannot go faster than 20mph; or
4. a vehicle used to provide a local service (as defined in the Transport Act 1985).
All wipers and washers which are required to be fitted must be properly adjusted and maintained in efficient working order.
Further to this, Section 40a of The Road Traffic Act 1988 (as amended by Section 8 of the Road Traffic Act 1991) Part II, Using a Vehicle in a Dangerous Condition, states that:
A person is guilty of an offence if he uses, or causes or permits another to use, a motor vehicle or trailer on a road when:
(a) the condition of the motor vehicle or trailer, or of its accessories or equipment; or
(b) the purpose for which it is used; or
(c) the number of passengers carried by it, or the manner in which they are carried; or
(d) the weight, position or distribution of its load, or the manner in which it is secured;
is such that the use of the motor vehicle or trailer involves a danger of injury to any person.
One more reason to get pulled by the boys in blue.

It would probably be even less aesthetically pleasing than the wipers now that I think about it.
