Question Anything mystical about XK8 brakes?

My wife's 2006 XK8 front brakes were squealing something terrible so we took it to our local dealer in Carlsbad. (Our first Jag so that's why we decided to take it to a dealer.). Just bought it couple months ago, no warranty and I don't work on this type of stuff.

Anyhow, the rotors were worn thin and pads were toast. Cost us $700 w/ tax for new rotors and pads, which I see from posts is about average?

Question? Could any brake place have done it? Can they get factory parts or is that even necessary?

Thanks for any comments and Merry Christmas!!

Any competent independent mechanic could easily handle Jaguar brake repair and all the parts are generally available at you local auto parts store.

The brake system is as plain as toast. I got my pads from Rock Auto...

Easy job to replace the pads and discs (or rotors for those of you the other side of the pond). I did my own and they are no different to most other cars. Main thing is to try to ensure you get the runout as low as possible on the new discs to avoid judder.

Nice picture. Right place right time!

$700 for front barkes as follows:

$210 labor
$98 pads
$355 rotors
$9 stop squeal
$37 tax

Next time I'll get someone to help me. I checked prices on Internet. Pads were about the same. Could have saved $100 on rotors. Labor is what sucks.
