Default "ASC/TRAC Not Available" Messages Persist-Do I really need to check the ABS Module?

Hi Folks. I cleaned all four wheel speed sensors and did a (quick) inspection of the wiring harnesses. All seems fine, but after a test drive, I still get these two messages (but no ABS message). Before I break into the ABS Module, is it really likely that unsoldered contacts could be the fix? FWIW, the TRAC light in the center stack button doesn't light when pressed and the two lights on the shifter surround buttons (speed limiter and S) remain lit. Are there any other suggestions for a DIY'er fix?

don't go crazy, remove the module, send it out for soldering or you do it.

After its fixed, it will take a while of driving for the lights to go out.

OK. I'll just do it. I was just trying to make a connection between these two non-ABS messages and the ABS module. Thanks. I'll report back...

I haven't seen any posts that didn't have the abs light on, but needed the solder repair. There's always first, but all the ones I have checked displayed the abs light and stored the C1095 code.

The links should help you out.

Link OBDII Codes http://www.jagrepair.com/DTCforms/X103_C_DTC.pdf

Link Wiring http://www.jagrepair.com/images/Auto.../jagxk2002.pdf

Link to ABS JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

The ABS check list is for a MY 1999 but I think it is the same on the 2002. Good Luck!

Thanks, all. After struggling with the four ABS circuit lines, I opened up the ABS Module and lo and behold, it looked like the soldering points were partially detached/degraded. I re-soldered them-hopefully with not too much new material. Is it possible to over-solder the points (make them too goopy)? I'm waiting overnight for the adhesive to cure. I hope to reinstall tomorrow. Stay tuned...

You probably did a good job. It takes quite a bit of heat. You may have to drive a few miles to have the warning disappear if that was the problem. Please report your results.

I usually bend the brake line out of my way very slowly to remove the module, then cut open the area to be soldered with a old soldering tip, use a small flat head to scrape the protective moisture coating off the old solder, apply a little flux to the pins then re-solder.

After that I just put a piece of black duck tape over the area, then black rtv and let dry.

Wow am I impressed. After waiting overnight for the adhesive to cure, I reinstalled the module this morning, and it actually cleared both messages!!!! I am so relieved. I ABSolutely didn't think it would work (given that there were no actual ABS messages), but it did. Reinstalling that windshield washer filler neck was a royal pain (hint: use a screwdriver from the open area on the left to hold the protruding hose in position as you turn and lock on the filler neck). A huge thanks to everyone for their technical expertise and support!
