Hi,
Can the ashtray door on console be repaired or does it need to be replaced? Mine will not "click" shut.
To replace they are pretty salty.

They are complex and fragile 'consumables', like some inexplicably expensive sparkling waters.

Yep, they are repairable, but due to age the plastic will have embrittled. I have a donor scrap car that I initially used for parts for my repair, and must have done it eventually 3x. My experience is that the hinge arm breaks, but your problem for closing of the lid is probably due to the hanging vertical locking gear at the rear of the lid. See pic below.


This entire unit is available second hand on eBay as it was widely used on different Jags at that period of time. However the wiring fitting might be different, as I found.
