Default Auto Alarm Setting

Anyone know if the auto alarm setting feature can be changed to OFF without having to have the software/hardware to access the security module...as in a series of pushing certain buttons....???

Really, really tired of the auto alarm feature.

Lanny, I noticed your question has been floating for a while. Ttytt I just skimmed it the 1st time.

So any way to eliminate the alarm auto set function without changing s/w permissions? No sorry I don't know of any.

Now that's a conclusion based on the way s/w works for all the other soft features. Sorry. BTW, it'd drive me nuts too!

John

Shortly after obtaining the XK8, had it at the local Jaguar dealership, the service writer asked if we wanted to have the auto alarm feature enabled...and we did....what were we thinking!!!
A few years later, had the XK8 back at the same dealership (there is only one), asked to have auto alarm feature turned-off and the same service writer replied..."not sure if we can do that"....and they did not.
Do not think we have returned since as the extended service contract has expired and I took over doing repairs.
Looks like a trip and cost to the dealership is the only way to disable the auto alarm feature....just not worth the $150 base service charge.

Thanks for the reply.

Can an independent shop do this with an AutoEngenuity system or something similar?

I have no idea what equipment is needed to access the security module. Time for me to do some research.....
