auto enginuity not so useful
Bought a used AutoEnginuity Scanner w/what I was told was jag software and everything needed to read jag specific codes from 96-12 on it of ebay. It arrived today and after installing it etc. hooked it up to my 97 xk8 with a abs/trac code problem. Won't find the computer unless you change the interface to is09141-2. Then the only codes it will read is the generic p codes. Am I missing something or should I be opening up a dispute if the seller isn't helpful on the returning of it. I did hook it up to the 03 xjr and it was exactly the same.
Was hoping to have the sticking code for the stability control so I can figure out if I can trust that as my only car for a week or so while the xjr goes in for a front end rebuild.
Help please!

The seller should have sent you the activation code for the Jag feature. If you did not get it, then you shuld ask him for it. If he cannot provide it, then you have cause for opening a dispute.
If you do have the code, select HELP/FEATURE ACTIVATION to enter it.

I don't think he did it purposely as he sent me the email from them with the code with his first email showing the unique id for the reader but we shall see. If it requries a different code each time you put software on a computer then I definately don't want the program. Interestingly, the program seems suprisingly basic. I have TuneECU freeware for my Tiger and it is a more "upscale" program then Enginuity is.
After entering the codes 20 or so times it finally agreed they were the proper codes and let me in. Thanks for the help white! Now I'll post the codes in my tranny issue thread and hopefully someone will have a suggestion..
