Hardly steps. Just under the edge of the cushion find two nuts. Remove and pull the cushion out, feeding the seatbelts through the boot, which has a snap. That's assuming you have a XK8

Remove the two 10mm nuts at either side, under the front edge of the cushion. They are normally covered with a rubber cap that must be removed first.

Lift.

That's about it.

If you need to take it out of the car completely, you will have undo the center bolt that holds the seatbelts. It's a big torx, T24 sticks in my head but I'm not positive.

My 97 conv. has a boot that the belts slide out of, no need to remove the bolt. Your coupe must be a different configuration.

+1.

My 99 XKR coupe has a leather boot around the seat belts. The boot has metal ('popper') studs that can take a bit of opening. Once they're open, seat belts feed through the boot when you pull the cushion out. I found the studs quite hard to open first time, but easier subsequently.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes, Colin

You know what, you are absolutely right.

I thought it was two loops of leather, one around each buckle, but there is indeed a snap in the middle.

Silly me for unbolting it.
