Default Birds of a feather: Preparing for the Impending Large Ice Storm

The best defense is a good offence. Durham, NC this morning 34 F (1 C).

Work parking lot, continuing apocalypse edition. Only one of these is mine.

My wife was skeptical about my declaration that it was "top down weather". Photo evidence of an additional random participant didn't change her position.

I drove my ‘02 XKR over NE Oklahoma’s snow packed roads the past 3 days. It did really well, with the hardest part getting up the incline out of my driveway. Having a full fuel tank and 100 lbs of tools in the trunk was a plus. My biggest fear was the other drivers. So I did my errands early as
possible to avoid them.

The last time the XK saw this much snow was 3 + years ago when I drove it home (at night) in over 400 miles of snow and iced roads from from purchasing it that afternoon in De Moines Iowa

Our overnight freezing rain has been less than originally forecast thus far. Still, this is Subaru Outback AWD weather while all of our other vehicles stay safely at home....

Appreciate the support, Steve. And she has an enormous wool blanket in the back suitable for "Stranded for days near Oymyakon in the winter", but still not seeing the light.

This was the one winter that i did not put on the cover before parking her in the backyard. Kind of guaranteed the weather we have had for the past two weeks, sorry. Not ever going to drive her in the NYC snows as they put down so much salt around here. They have managed to corrode bridges straight through on occasion.

Have to admit that i really like driving in the cold with the roof open. Windows up and heat on it is very nice. Only problem is that the hydraulics do not seem to operate well below 35 deg F. This is my cutoff for operating the roof.
