Bluetooth capability

2006 era Jaguar Bluetooth is historic in technology terms. The main issue being the limited models of phones which can be connected. It would also be extremely expensive to have OE Jaguar Bluetooth retrofitted.
My 2006 XK8 had OE Jaguar Bluetooth but I would not have considered a retrofit if it hadn't been factory fitted.
Plenty of better and lower cost aftermarket options available.

It's fairly simple to install and worked right off the bat. I've seen posts about limited phones but it works with several I tried. It's a bit of a hassle on some of them to transfer the phone book. You can check here for a list of the phones that are approved.
I've got a (free) extra phone module bracket for a convertible if anyone wants one.

I just recently added it to my '03 X8. The two main costs are for the phone module and the Bluetooth module. I managed to find a used phone module for $125 and a new Bluetooth module on eBay for $300. I got the rest of the odds and ends from Terry's Jaguar parts for just a hair over $200.

You might see if the yellow plug in the center console where the phone module harness connects is the same but you'd need a newer XK8 to check it against.
Anyway, for those who also might want to add bluetooth, here's what you need:
The phone module or PSE is the hardest to find. The part number is C2N3421; however, new ones are rather pricey so look for a used one. For that, it's easier to find it by the engineering number which is 3W83 19K350-AC. It's critical that you get the -AC version. Older ones won't work.
The Bluetooth module for any model Jaguar from 2003 to 2007 will work. They are listed under many part numbers such as C2N3835, C2N3689, C2S49706, C2S43926, C2S45699, C2C39062. The one I ended up with was C2C 35620. The various part numbers refer to the length of the wiring coming out of it. For an XK, the length isn't important as it sits right next to the harness it plugs into.
Again, it's easier to look for the engineering number which is 2W93-14B409-AD. In the case of this module, any of them will work so -AB, AC, or whatever will be fine though -AD I think is the newest one and newer is better.
Then you need the wiring harness which is LJG 3540PA for the convertible. The coupe version is $88.99 at Terry's Jaguar Parts. The coupe part number is LJG 3540NA. I think the only difference is the length of the antenna wire which you won't be using anyway.
You need a microphone ($75.60). The part numbers are LNA 7307AA AGD (Oatmeal) and LNA 7307AA LFJ (Nimbus Grey).
Then you need a bracket for the PSE with the nuts and bolts:
Bracket: GJE 3655AA
Bolts (4): C2S26049 (replaces JFS10616B)
I have the above if you want it though if you get a used PSE, it will probably come with it. That's why I have one sitting around.
You neeed (3) FN106041 nuts to bolt the bracket to the car.
Then it calls for another bracket that goes under the cubby which is C2N1755 and the two screws it needs - JSM10408C. This bracket seems useless to me but it was less than $7.
So, in your case, you can gamble and get all that stuff and try it. Worst case scenario, you have all the stuff in one place and it would be pretty easy to resell to someone else if it didn't work.

I'm interested in setting up my 2005 XKR for hands-free calling.
At first, I thought I'd go the OEM Bluetooth retrofit route described here & picked up a PSE module (from another '05 XKR) that a guy used with an iPhone 6 (which I also have) for $140 on eBay. Recently, however, I read that three companies -- Boss, JBL, and Jensen -- are in the process of obtaining Apple certification for single-DIN head units featuring Apple CarPlay. (The touch screen extends out from the top and tilts upward.) When released, they're supposed to sell for around $400 each.
An alternative, then, would be to install one of these CarPlay head units in place of the existing Alpine head unit and simply plug the iPhone into it. I believe that the new unit could be wired to take advantage of the steering wheel controls. I'm strongly leaning towards this latter approach as being less costly & easier to implement. Is there any compelling reason to have BOTH a factory-type Bluetooth phone connection AND a head unit with Apple CarPlay?
Thanks for your advice!
