Default brake pad springs do not fit

So this is the only the second time I have done brakes so not sure if it is me or the wrong part was listed. My spring clips do not fit into the caliper. I bent the clips but can not seem to bend them enough and do not want to over stress them. Should I force them or is this just the wrong product. as you can see from the pic even the base of the spring clip is to big for the hole so bending it seems excessive.

Dont look good to me...i fitted EBC redstuff last year into my Brembo Calipers and they went straight in...no forceing or bending clips, as we're talking about brakes and a V8 engine driving the wheels around...... it might be a good idea to re-think what you've bought!

Look at the size of the bases for the spring clips. I don't care how much you bend them, you have the wrong pads !

Scott I've bent the arms to fit in many times without trouble. Actually it's not a bend more like a compression. Iow you're moving it not permanently creasing the metal. Donr forget some grease to help slip it in.

I picked up some Akebono EUR688A. i am trying to get Rockauto to take these back, Bosch should take them back from Rock since it is there site that matches the wrong part. If not there is always a credit card dispute. Still a PITA since I scheduled time today to do the work and now I have to wait for the new part.

What year is your car, that piston bore looks much smaller than those on my car.

If you are referring to the diameter of the formed base of the spring clip itself, I completely agree with you. Else, I am looking at an optical illusion.

Dr.D yeah the base is just way to large and if you could get them installed they wouldn't seat properly.

Scottatl. If I had known in your first post you were getting them from Rockauto I would have just said you can gauranty they are the wrong ones. Rockauto is 3 for 3 with shipping wrong pads. Good luck on the refund their policy is totally against refunding. Be a nuisance or you won't get one.

Strange as it seems, the pads on Bosch's website look like the ones you purchased.

That looks like the rear caliper - which all the searches I can find show the BC688 fits.

Take a look at these two pages from the Bosch site:
front: https://www.boschautoparts.com/en/au...s?partId=BP394

rear: https://www.boschautoparts.com/en/au...s?partId=BC688

The clip on the backplate of the 688 looks narrower than the one in your pic.

Note that in both cases the part # is printed on the backplate, and the number in your pic is F03B

Looks like Rock has got the pads all muxed ip.

The front pads are also VIN dependent.

Brake pad kit, front
Standard
(to VIN A24195) JLM1829
(from VIN A24196) JLM21917

The pic below shows my later VIN pad and caliper, looks like the ones you bought would fit this set up.

RockAuto was pretty good about taking them back it wasn't their fault. Bosch had the wrong part listed so I guess RockAuto will deal with Bosch. I sent a message to Bosch also. hopefully they'll fix the issue so other people don't have the same issue as I did

The same happened to me. Beck/Arnley listed XJS prkg brake shoes for my XKR on their website. Rock was already in the process of going to bat for me and I got full credit w/o having to do a return.

Default HELP needed - do my front xj8 brakes take clips or not?

HI
2004 XJ8 (not VP, not supercharged). I replaced all sorts of components until I read about the brake rattle issues on the Forum. I was afraid to drive thinking that a wheel was gonna fall off. I DID read as many posts as I could, but I CAN'T tell if my 2004 is supposed to have clips or not. I also can't tell if the clips are the 'exterior stainless steel' type or the ones I have seen which have 3 prongs that go inside the caliper piston.

Sorry if its been answered, but I can't figure this one out. And, if I do need clips, I've seen drawings with one kind of clip as #8 on a parts diagram, and one with #12, so again, more confusion here.

Thanks!! Appreicate any help or suggestions.
