Default Bremo Bleed Nipple Leaking

Hi chaps

A couple of months ago i had to split my rear Bremo caliper, once it was put back together i had to bleed the 2 bleed nipples, i remember tightening them up after bleeding, i noticed one still was leaking, i nipped it up some more and it was fine. Now im losing fluid and i can see drips inside of my rear wheel. Does it sound like i should replace the bleed nipples, im worried about tightening it any more incase it breaks.

Aluminium caliper with a steel bleed nipple - you don't want to overtighten that combination.

Have you cleaned the caliper and then checked for the source of the leak?

My thoughts too, from what i know the nipple should seal on the taper and so i dont know why it is leaking. I have not inspected the caliper yet, i need to remove the rear wheel and have a look. Do you think replacing the nipple would help or should i remove it nd thry and clean the mating surface.

You might want to inspect the other seals to see if the leak is not the nipple.

Don't speculate - inspect.

You need to determine exactly where the leak is coming from. If it is the nipple then a new one is going to have a better chance of sealing without applying undue force.

If worse comes to worse there are inserts available on Ebay to repair damaged nipple seats.

Rob, it's not a tool as such but an insert and as far as l can see it would involve drilling out and retapping the original nipple seat.

Thanks baxtor.

I still have not found the time to look. Hopefully over the weekend. I was looking for info on the torque setting that could be used on a bleed nipple but it seems not to exist.

I got a front puncture a couple of days ago, because i drove about for a few miles this ruined the 20" Tyre. As it needed replacing i ended up buying a matching pair of Dunlop sport max, it cost me £343 for the tyres and then £65 for the front and back wheel alignment. So i went home and cried instead of checking my brake fluid leak.
