Broken antenna and GPS

Broken antenna and GPS
2001 XK8. Antenna mast broke today and coincidentally the GPS said it cannot read disc, and now does nothing. GPS screen shows Jaguar and clock, but I get nothing when I press "map". Too much coincidence, but there should be no relation between the antenna and GPS. Any ideas?. I did order a replacement mast today.

that shouldn't not be related...its coincidence, surely. (I know, don't call you shirley )
You won't get anything if it can only boot up the firmware (leaper) and not read the disc which contains the maps. Clean your disc carefully, blow some compressed air in the drive...maybe it'll allow it to read, or just stir up more dust (don't blame me, ok?) Mine eventually just stopped reading the disc...all discs, so instead of replacing it with a salvage unit with a unknown life expectancy, I ditched the navigation entirely. Don't get me wrong, I kept the screen, I just used it to display a video output from a Garmin black box Nav unit.

I was not going to replace the unit considering the age of the car, and just use a portable GPS when needed. I just use the Jag around town. I'm not familiar with a Garmin black box, and how did you hook it up to the GPS screen? I'll try cleaning the disc later today. I don't think it is a blown fuse because the broken antenna still goes up, but only retracts to the broken point.

Please see the link in my signature below for instructions on hooking the Garmin GVN-53 to the GPS screen. I also now sell a cable to make the installation much easier.
