Default Broken Passenger window - bad day

Friends, Wonder if you can help me figure out the best path here. I broke my 1998 convertible XK8's passenger window. Looks l like these things are rare as hens teeth. Is it true that 97, 98, and 99 cars used the same window?

I have no experience installing windows, but Jaguar wants $1200.00. How hard is it to install if I were able to find one?

Thanks,

John

John,

Is it:

1. door or rear quarter
2. glass or mechanism broken

These are supplied window & carrier and are thus quite expensive. If you can't find used our price is $795.00 with your discount. Available within a week.

It is the window in my passenger door. Shattered in a million pieces.

John,

As forum sponsor S N G Barratt advised in post #3, the glass and carrier are supplied together and quite expensive.

This is an obvious situation where a used part, if you can source one, will be perfectly satisfactory. It doesn't matter if it comes from any LHD or RHD vehicle between 1997-99.

Fitting isn't difficult. You don't have sufficient posts yet to be able to download PDF's from the forum so I've put the JTIS instructions on my Mediafire account for you to download.

There is an abundance of wrecked or non-functioning Xk's that are being parted out, even in the classified ad section of this forum. You should have no problem sourcing a window. Even many independent auto glass shops have access to used windows, it should not be a terribly expensive part.
