Default bummer day

driving into work this AM heard a squeal from the driver rear that went away when I got up to highway speed, then about 5 miles later felt a thud like I had a flat tire, pulled over tires ok, no visible issues. Drove the rest of the way to work with an occasional squeal. Took her into the shop at lunch - bearing shot and they also found a pinhole coolant leak (octopus hose) and valve cover gasket leaking. oh well - will be busy the next few days getting some repairs done using the forum how to's, JTIS and asking questions if I get stuck.

Ouch!

They say bad luck comes in threes so at least you've got it all out of the way in one day.

That is a bummer of a day.

But half the fun of owning a Jaguar is working on them, right?

Charlie - no doubt!!! Bearings replaced along with damaged hub, hub carrier and ABS ring on drivers side. Valve cover gaskets done - next the octopus hose and then new rims/tires and seats - just glad for friends with heated garages!!!!!!!!!!

Heated garage? You bet. It was 5deg here on the west side Atlanta this morning. My garage is in the basement, insulated and paneled. But it was 45 there. This has been a tough month in the balmy south.

Yep 65 in the garage today but only in the 30's outside. Saw the woes you folks are having in Atlanta - yikes hope you weren't stuck in that mess on the roads!!

Man, at least you are getting a whole lot done at once and hopefully can enjoy her after that for a while.

bent stud on the hub and center protrusion on backside of hub was bent out of round and the hub carrier had a piece stuck in the backside of the carrier - I didn't fell like dealing with trying to tear it apart when there was a spare right there for use it - yeah cost a few bucks but she's back on the road right now.
