Default Buzzing sound at 20 MPH - RESOLVED

2001 XK8 with 70K.
Just had some major AC work done (at Jag dealer) - there was a leak in a hose that they tell me was hard to get at.

Anyway, AC works fine now however, the car has developed a buzzing sound (some sort of harmonic) when driven at exactly 20MPH.

Buzzing sound goes away by the time the car reaches 23 MPH. Sounds like it's coming from the front middle.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

If the work required getting to the Heater/Evaporator Core, that involves considerable dismantling in the centre console area.

Possibly centre veneer trim panel or the centre vents loose. The veneer is bonded onto a metal backing and can set up a vibration if not firmly engaged in the securing clips

If you put a hand on these at 20MPH, does the buzz stop?

Thanks for the thought but this is not something inside the car. It is a metallic buzzing sound coming from underneath. The best way I can describe it is if there is some sort of metal shield over the exhaust system that has not been tightened enough and vibrates (buzzes) at a certain resonance

Well, there a a lot of metal shields under this car.

Take it back to the dealer and have them make it right.

Problem Resolved

Took it back to dealer - They found the left front backing plate was rubbing on the ball joint. Secured it and buzzing sound at 20 mph is gone. Cost $135.00. No parts just labor required.

Good to hear you got it fixed and thanks for posting the solution.

I've edited the thread title to include 'RESOLVED'
