Default Cam Cover Paint

I am wanting to bring a little respectability to my engine bay and one of the things which needs sorting is the colour of the cam covers.
Looks like there has maybe been a previous hose leak and the cam cover has a lighter faded area at the front, possibly scalded, or maybe they just fade like that?
If I were to paint them does the paint need to be of a certain type and does it need any prepping other than a good degrease, what did you use to bring them back to black?

Thinking about this, am I barking up the wrong tree with paint, would a plastic trim restorer be a better idea, something like Chemical Guys " Back to Black"?

Default Cam covers are vinyl ester plastic resin

The cam covers are a cast vinyl ester plastic, so an acrylic paint should bond so long as you have cleaned the substrate. Before paint make sure you do a high alcohol degreaser wipe down to not have any bonding issues.

Obviously you’ll need a high temp stable brand paint (lots available) and you’ll need to be careful of the unit’s returns/corners when you spray. Probably need to hang the unit rather than brush on a bench.
