Default Can a bad brake switch or park interlock cause a P0706 gearbox fault?

Hello fellow forum members,

I am troubleshooting a P0706 gearbox fault issue and have reviewed several hours of forum posts related to this. Two things I noticed: 1): I can shift the trans out of park either with or without the ignition key turned on, and 2). When I depress/release the brake pedal, I do not get any solinoid click in or out. The trans can be shifted without the key or brake pedal being depressed. No interlock working at all. Is there any history of either of these issues being involved in the P0706 gearbox fault issue?
Thanks in advance for any input.
Steve
