That's a very interesting question. I think that cools the throttle motor, but I'm open to education. Theoretically, if the housing was somehow damaged internally, I don't see why coolant couldn't seep into the intake below the butterfly.

You could prove it by pulling the intake manifold and looking inside for traces of coolant. Or perhaps just pull the TB off and see if any coolant is puddled below in the elbow. Fun, right! There should be nothing in the intake runners except oil residue. Some oil gets sucked in via the valve cover hoses..

Coolant runs through throttle body to stop frost forming because of Venturi effect. Just like carburetor heat on a small plane.
I did a search before I asked the question. Found nothing.

Does the X100 have a water cooled EGR valve like the X150? That would be an obvious source of coolant in the exhaust system.

Depends on the year, I think. My 2000 has no EGR valve. I thought I read somewhere that only the early models have one.

Nor did I. My BMWs both have drive-by-wire throttle bodies and they have no water passages. I wonder why Jag's would freeze up when others don't?

Don’t know why some cars have and some do not. Maybe because ours are set back a little from the heat of the engine? I know not needed if in warm climate and some bypass. My 996 had an air/oil separator. Big thing about the size of a football. It started leaking coolant but otherwise worked fine. Engine drop to replace so I bypassed coolant because in Florida.

Head gasket. .use compressed air into each cylinder to check for leakage or there is a lest kit for co in the cooling water
