I'm in the business of talking to the Jag's ECU, and I've got a VCM w/ cables on the way. I also have the IDS 118.5 software installation files ready to go. I'm trying to do two things, #1: Add FOBs to my '97 XK8, and #2: Try to save a failed ECU in a 2006 XK8.

I've been advised this only works properly with a 32-bit Windows machine, and I don't have a whole lot of confidence with the units I'm seeing on Ebay. Plus for other reasons (an unrelated 1985 Buick ECM DOS program) I'm ideally trying to find one with a parallel port (for the younger folks, that's the long 25-pin fat port you find on really old computers.)

Just thought I'd throw out the request here, to either borrow or buy one that someone here may have lying around...

 

You might want to take a look at one of the versions available for Oracle's VM VirtualBox. Each version is an appliance that contains a clone of Windows XP 32 bit with SDD already loaded. The FOBs added to an X100 does NOT require WDS, or IDS.

The ignition and 'headlamp-flash' works almost ALL the time.

In case of the 1% of the time that it does not, I need WDS/IDS to 'clear all keyfob transmitters'.
