Tony, if possible, I would do without the cover. If there is any dirt on the car, the cover, or both; or if there is a possibilty wind can blow dirt between the cover and the car you will have this issue. I don't even know if a softer sub-cover will work.

What are you trying to protect the car from? Sun, bird-droppings? Can you park the car somewhere else?

tryi g to protect it from everything dust, birds just trying to keep it clean in general..plus winters coming and i want to cover it cause the snow and ice. no garage cars in front of house. cars always clean when i put cover on also.. its the wind burns that give me the problems and i have the cover strapped down in front and back plus tied in the middle under the car to keep cover from blowing up and down...but these wind burn marks keep happening.. gona try some different wax. using meguiars now gona try autoglem wax (jsc from nc suggested it.. we'll try and see what happens... tks

Tony, try adding a 'softer' layer, like fleece, between the cover and the car, and make sure the fleece does not move when the wind blows. The covers are made from plastics that will last for a while, but when the wind blows and move the cover over the paint, it will scuff.

Any movement of a car cover will cause friction and damage the paint. It's not the polish.

Find another way of keeping the car out of the elements.

Ideally in your outside situation one of those small car tents would work well, not sure how much space you have. Also being in the Bronx you might find a family living there in the spring ;-)

ps, saw your other note, I was away when you posted, thanks for reaching out.

In my experience car cover cause more damage then they prevent. Even the best covers exposed to the wind will rub off the paint.
