Do you see any evidence of charring? If there was smoke there may be other wire damage somewhere.

Check the other BPM fuses besides #7 in the driver side fusebox:

#5, driver side fusebox
#7, Passenger side fusebox

Check #7 on the OTHER side of the dash fusebox also. Which direction did you see the smoke from?

Chances are the BPM is blown. The BPM does directly control the starter relay. Here is a link to a similar experience: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...nt-work-53809/

Badly Planned Module.......whenever there was a function that the designers did know where else to put it went in the BPM. Sometimes also known as Body Processor Module.

I like your BPM better.

Sounds bloody awful. Do I -we- have a lot of these BPM things?

Our BPM is amazing. There are a lot more clips on youtube, with some great footage.

Just one BPM with 104! wire connections in the car. It just strikes me as a bizarre design that the same BPM that controls the vanity mirror lights also controls the starter relay just to name a couple of the totally diverse things that it does.

Still love the car, just an endearing quirk.

Most modern cars have a similar module. In GM vehicle it is called the BCM.

Thanks to all those who helped my husband figure this issue out. We got the BPM in today and all is well in Jagland. Also thanks to Butch from Florida for helping get the BPM in a timely manner. The cost of it was half the cost of the next cheapest place. Yeah!!! my baby is up and running
