Default Car stopped recognizing FOB

Dear all,
suddenly my car stopped recognizing both of my FOBs.
I already tried changing FOB batteries as well as resetting the whole system by detaching battery and short circuit the poles.

I suspect it could be a problem of the FOB signal captor.

Any hint?

do you know where the captor is located (I think in the trunk under the fuses, but confirmation is welcome)
do you know if it is just sufficient to buy another one and change it or if it needs any re-programming?

thank you a lot for any suggestion. Opening the car with the key and rushing into it to deactivate the alarm by plugging the key is becoming annoying….

Did you try the one system that uses the flasher method?
A search should pull up any that have been talked about but Gus has it in his repair methods for just about anything.
Always worked for me when the car had been setting for a while and lost contact with the FAB.

Yes, kind of weird, but what else is new.
I found that on occasion all the buttons will work after the first time I get a beep, not always. My car does sit a lot.

On mine, fobs would not work when trunk light switch non functional. Replaced the trunk micro switch which then enabled full function of the security and locking module. All worked well after.
