Casette Stuck in Radio
I have been using a bluetooth casette adapter. It is stuck in the radio - will not go down and will not come out. Any suggestions other than grabbing it with needlenose pliers and pulling on it?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Unless your OG cigarette lighter socket is already in use, I recommend replacing your cassette adapter with a plug-in Bluetooth-to-FM adapter. Many also come with USB charging ports (and some with volts display).
It first got stuck when I turned the engine off. The self-ejection system seems to have jammed with
some kind of mechanical, spring sound trying. Then it goes silent.
Were you able to [somehow] get it out with pliers, and without having to take the console apart?
I preferred the cassette blue tooth solution to be better than the plug into the cigarette lighter USB/FM
transmitter. Too much static that randomly turned up.
I wonder how many here will wonder "what's a casette"? Anyway I actually have a bunch of cassettes from years ago that I sometimes like to listen to as well as having the ION Bluetooth cassette adapter that has always worked well when streaming Pandora from my phone. Only mildly annnoying thing is the slight noise of the wheels of the cassette spinning around but I suppose they can be removed by opening up the cassette?
I must be missing something. Why fool around with a cassette based Bluetooth when you can Bluetooth tap into the amp with one of Discount Stereo’s products, and get better sound ?
and this is coming from someone (a dinosaur) old enough to remember the introduction of the cassette.
i was in high school and we were thinking we were fortunate to have the Lear Jet 8 track players. I had heard of the cassette system , but never seen one in person.
so one night a hippie gal friend of mine said she knew a guy that lived 20 miles away that had been to NYC and bought a cassette player / recorder there. We jumped in her car and hightailed it down the road to Dave Brummitt’s house.
sure enough, he brought it out and it was amazing. The cassette was 1/4 the size of an 8 track cartridge. WOW ! I remember Dave saying proudly, “…it’s a miniature reel-to-reel….”
but they weren’t widely available, and we endured 8 tracks for a few more years (late 1960’s to early 1970’s).

Im fortunate to have an cassetteplayer in a good working order.. i love the vintage feel of pushing in a cassette, to look and listen to the mechanical wizardry before tne music kicks in.. the quality arent near enough as bad as some people claim, its actually very good.
I have thought about these a few years ago but I think the ones that were first introduced were somewhat fussy to install requiring splicing in stuff. The one that is offered now that would be suitable for my vehicle is BTA-JAG98, I believe, and glancing through the installation instructions it looks much more plug-and-play. Am I correct?

yes, I unplugged one cable from the amp unit and plugged it into the discount car module. Then plugged the cable from discount car module into the amp unit. All that’s left to do is attach a fuse holder into the trunk / boot fuse box. It’s a piggy back arrangement that uses an existing fuse location. No trouble from it in the 7 years since the installation. Done.
the hardest part was getting to the backside of the amp stack.

Turns out that one can pry down the cassette with a screwdriver or penknife, and the cassette will then exit.
Latest travail is the security horn going off after the driver door is shut and locked with the clicker. Opening/unlocking the
door with the clicker stops the security alarm causing the horn to go on/off with a lot of vigor. Surmise that the door was
not completely closed. Am not anxious to get inside the driver side door to fuss around.
