The Cat gets a growl! – Just did a ‘rear muffler delete’ on the '99 XK8. Took a Sawzall to the two rear cans and burnt on some 2.25” straight pipes terminated with a pair of new SS 3.5” tips. MUCH better sound from the 4.0L V8 now and way better looking than the stupid little original 3”x2” oval tips. Could it be a bit louder? Well of course! Then again, it doesn’t have an annoying drone at speed either with the top down. My muffler shop guy hooked me up. Now this is my THIRD rear muffler delete he’s done for me in a year so I had a number in mind… but I suspect I got a ‘He drives a Jaguar’ tax this time. I hate that stigma.😡
Looks good and probably sounds better. The PO of mine got rid of the mufflers and just ran
pipes terminating in a split pipe about a foot and a half from the end. This kitty roars when I
give er but is surprisingly quiet when she gets up to speed although I do have the coupe so
that does knocks the sound down.

For sure. I should be home from work for the weekend. I have a vacuum leak I plan to
chase down and maybe someone can tell me what I'm hearing. I've been researching
vacuum leaks on the forum and since I have to park her for the winter at the end of the
month, unless October looks friendly, and it's on the list.
