CCW wheels for my XKR. 'Had them since 2001. Thoughts?
I originally bought these wheels for a radical turbocharged RX-7 that no longer exists. They are smaller in diameter than the stock wheels. At 17" in diameter, they aren't necessarily the direction that I had wanted to go, but they are quite wide. Of course, I can get a tire that isn't as low of a profile as larger diameter wheels frequently utilize. They were personally custom made by the creator of CCW (Complete Custom Wheel), John Purner. These Classics have been favored by Viper and Corvette racing crowds for a while.
These gems have been sitting in my personal storage since 2001. They were made for a 1988 Mazda RX-7 Turbo II. They have never had tires mounted, are scratch-free and in perfect condition aside from the museum-quality dust.
The wheel sizes are:
2 Front wheels @ 17" dia x 9 1/2" wide, 5 x 4.5" Bore 59.6
2 Rear wheels @ 17" dia x 10" wide, 5 x 4.5" Bore 59.6
I'd have to use wheel adapters to get these to fit the Jag which has a bolt pattern of 5 x 4.75". I have looked at these: 5 by 135 to 5 by 135 wheel adapters, wheel spacers, wheel adaptors. I've never used this type of wheel installation previously.
What are your thoughts/experiences with wheel adapters and wheels like these?

Hey Jeff, I can't comment on those specific wheel adaptors but have had experience in the past as follows....
My wifes VW Passat had 15" wheels on that were nasty!
I had upgraded my 17" wheels on my A6 to 19"x255x35 and as the 17" wheels were in great shape decided to fit them to the Passat.
This involved the use of wheel adaptors but I opted for and would only ever use "Hubcentric" wheel adaptors.
Thats the type ( as you may know? ) that has an internal bore the same size as your existing hub.......prevents wheel wobble and ensures a safe and secure ride.
Thats my tuppence worth Jeff, but......
I would stronngly recomend you contact member exexpat ( Jeremy ) in the X type section on this.
He has changed dozens of wheels on different cars, lowered them, wider stance wheels and knows about offset and everything else required.
I would imagine he would be your best source of info.
Good luck Jeff

I have fitted all kinds of wheels to xks.... your main thing is to know the offset of the wheels you are fitting this determines your spacer size...... to clear the studs you need to have a spacer no less than 27mm but this may give you rubbing issues...... the thinnest you can go go is 15mm safely but this means the studs and spacer nuts protrude and you may need to make clearance for them on the wheel
