"CD NOT CONT" Error
So the old "CD NOT CONT" reared his ugly head here in East Texas in my 2006 XKR convertible.
I saw the referral in another thread/forum to Southern Electronics, so I sent the head unit in to them.
They said the unit was un-repairable, so they sent me a replacement.
Installed the replacement, and it didn't resolve the issue.
They were also so kind as to include a new cable, which I tried (just running on the outside of the car) - still no luck.
So I played around by swapping some of the cables in the truck at the stack, and bypassed the navigation unit,
and was able to see the cd playing on the display on the head unit (but no sound),
so I thought maybe the nav unit was bad and not passing through the cd signal.
So I found a used nav unit (identical model number), but still have the same issue.
Thinking about looking for a cd changer, but I hate to keep just replacing parts, so I thought I would reach out to the forum.
Anyone have any suggestions?
TIA
Mike

ETEX, wrong forum but you may be able to use this. I got same error message last week. I tracked it to a swinging open connection in the jack from my Bluetooth adapter to the umbilical out of the cd player. IOW in the X100 it indicates an open data connection to cd changer.
If I were you I'd go to the connection coming out of cd changer, wiggle it around see if you get lucky.
Your note about an external cable used for testing may be saying that you bypassed the cable I told you to wiggle. If so sounds like you proved it to the head unit.

i am concerned that it could be a wiring harness issue somewhere in the system,
but i'll probably just look for a used cd changer -
meanwhile, i'll just get out some old cassettes -
cheers!
