Default Center display not working

A friend has a 2003 xk8 with the center display not working.
The one with the gas and temp ect. led or lcd type.
I am going to have to work on this car as im the only other
xk8 owner in this small city. Since mine is a 99 I have not
any time working on the newer one. Is there any issues about
this display not working? thanks for any help.

I'm a little confused, but I think you're talking about the instrument cluster, right? What's not working on it? If it's just that it won't light up, I have a video that shows how to change the bulbs. See my link down below in my signature line. If the instruments themselves aren't working, you might have a loose connector, or maybe the cluster itself is just bad. There are two connectors going to the cluster, and if you watch the video that shows how to change the bulbs you'll see how to get to those connectors. You can buy a complete replacement cluster on eBay for about $50, but be careful because the mileage is calculated within the instrument cluster. If you have 50K miles on your car and you buy a cluster that shows 150K, then all the sudden it will look like your car has triple the mileage that it actually has.
