Default Cheap Trunk/Boot Lift Supports Catastrophically Failed

Cheap lift supports, don't get these (A-Premium 'brand'):

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073NMSVHF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073NMSVHF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Too springy in general, too bouncy at the top, both failed within a fraction of a second of each other in a tension reaction at the upper connection (so also probably moderately different gas charges in each). Thankfully a colleague happened to be standing there with quick hands, and I was only lightly bonked by the heavy boot/trunk.

Amazon, entertainingly, wanted the pieces back for the $15 refund.

I like the quality of the products from liftsupportsdepot.com. The pair of StrongArm hood lift supports I installed on my wife's 2015 Lexus RX350 back in October is significantly better than the slowly-failing factory lift supports they replaced. They came with a lifetime warranty. Ordered them on amazon.com for about $40 with free shipping....

Agree with Jon, The Liftsupportdepots.com seem to be good, after 4 years mine were beginning to get a bit weak(still lifted and held). I called them and after they verified purchase through Amazon, had new replacement after 4 days. Front & Rear required a $10 per pair costs for replacement, no problems. Good people and product.

The ones I just bought have ends that are larger than those your pic. These seem to hold up just fine to the stress of the lid flying open.
