Default Check eng. light and rough running

I was leaving the parking lot when the engine started running rough and the engine light went on;stability control failure. I stopped the car and shut the engine off. After waiting a few minutes , I restarted the car and it ran well. I drove onto the freeway and about ten minutes later the same exact thing and read out. This time I did the same thing; waited and restarted; ran perfectly all the way home but check engine light stayed on.

I have an OBD 2 tester so I hooked it up. The code was "throttle position sensor" ; 2 times. I erased the codes and the check engine light. All is running well again.

Does anyone know what i should be looking for (throttle sensor) and where to look and how to fix. Very weird electronics on these cars. LOVE it otherwise and it shows it.

You could be running on borrowed time with the TPS. See post #5 in the thread for the sequence of failures with mine.

The MAF unit was replaced approx. 7000 miles ago. Where is the TPSensor? What do i look for or test? Can I go buy just the sensor and replace?

Are there any tech. bulletins addressing this?

The throttle position sensor is on the throttle body. This part is not currently available separately to the public. Sometimes the connector can be cleaned and fix the problem. If the sensor is bad, the only option is to replace the throttle body. They can be rebuilt by a specialist or bought from a junkyard or Jag parts dealer. This is a common problem.

+1 on checking the connector.
Follow the black plastic air inlet pipe back and it goes through a sharp 90° at the back (windscreen) end of the engine.
Under there is the throttle body and if you look at it from the L you'll see a 4 pin plug.
Take that out + clean it.
We're working on replacing the TPS with a non-contact device. I've got one sourced for <£100 which will do te job but there's an oddity I don't fully understand in the fitted TPS. I need more time to sort this.

Following the theory a picture is worth a thousand words. The TPS is the black piece on the side of the Throttle Body with the yellow paint on the top securing screw:

Failure is not good news as others have already advised.
