Default Check Engine Light Bulb burned out?

OK,this is my first post....so here goes. I just purchased an 01 XK8 and went to have NC inspection done and the Check Engine Light did not come on. Everyting else passed. I am assuming it's burned out or loose . Any idea what size the bulb is ? I want to have one ready once I get the cluster out?

Also ,I understand there are 2 sets of bulbs,4 on top and 4 on bottom. Where would this one be located?

Thanks
David

Please clarify your question. I don't understand what you mean. The lamp out feature will not show up if an instrument lamp goes out.

Monster Module has a 1.800 number on the link I provided. Give them a call and see if they can help you out. BBA has an email address that you can use. Give it a try.

I guess I didnt make myself clear in my first post to this forum. Let me try to explain. The CEL is not illuminating as it should when the key is turned to the ON position. Normally it illuminates for 4 seconds then goes out....if everything checks out.

Mine does nothing......According to NC Law you have to have a check engine light functioning properly to pass inspection. I was trying to find out if indeed it IS the bulb and if so what size.? According to what I've seen there are 4 bulbs on the back side of the cluster. My hope was that one of these 4 would be the bad one and I could be prepared w/ the correct replacement. But upon further review I have come to the conclusion that it's part of the cluster circuitry itself. So I have orderd another cluster...... I hope that fixes it. ( CEL)

I know that the OBDII has a power source and I am wondering if it might supply power to the indicator on the dash?
